Introduction

The Covid-19 pandemic has been a significant challenge for the world, and pregnant women are considered one of the most vulnerable groups due to the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy. These changes increase the risk of virus transmission, both directly and vertically. Therefore, it is essential to understand the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of pregnant women towards Covid-19 in 2022.

Background

The Covid-19 pandemic has been ongoing for several years, and its impact on pregnant women has been a significant concern. Pregnant women are at a higher risk of severe illness and death from Covid-19 due to their physiological changes. Therefore, it is crucial to understand their knowledge, attitudes, and behavior towards the virus to develop effective strategies to protect them and their unborn children.

Methodology

This study used an observational descriptive research design with a cross-cutting method. The sample was taken using the consecutive sampling method of respondents who met the criteria. The data obtained is primary data processed to provide a clear picture of the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of pregnant women in the face of this pandemic.

Results

The study involved 96 respondents, and the results showed that only 24 people had good knowledge about COVID-19. As many as 26 people have enough knowledge, while 46 people have less knowledge. This shows that most pregnant women still do not have an adequate understanding of viruses and their impact during pregnancy. This low knowledge has the potential to increase the risk of maternal and fetal health, especially in the midst of a prolonged pandemic.

In terms of attitude, 96 respondents showed that 18 people had a very positive attitude, 76 people had a positive attitude, and 2 people showed a negative attitude. Most respondents show optimistic and responsive attitude towards the recommended health protocol. This is an indication that although their knowledge is lacking, there is awareness to maintain their personal health and fetus by applying preventive measures.

As for the behavior of pregnant women, as many as 76 people show very positive behavior, 10 people have positive behavior, 7 people show negative behavior, and 3 people have very negative behavior. The majority of respondents show good behavior in complying with health protocols, such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and vaccinating if possible. This reflects the efforts of pregnant women to protect themselves and their children from the risk of virus transmission.

Discussion

The results of this study show that most pregnant women still do not have an adequate understanding of viruses and their impact during pregnancy. This low knowledge has the potential to increase the risk of maternal and fetal health, especially in the midst of a prolonged pandemic. However, the study also shows that most respondents have a positive attitude and excellent behavior in applying preventive measures.

The positive attitude and behavior of pregnant women towards Covid-19 are essential in protecting themselves and their unborn children from the risk of virus transmission. However, the lack of knowledge about the virus and its impact during pregnancy is a significant concern. Therefore, further efforts are needed to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about Covid-19 through appropriate health education.

Conclusion

In conclusion, although most respondents showed lack of knowledge about Covid-19, they have a positive attitude and excellent behavior in applying preventive measures. Further efforts are needed to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about Covid-19 through appropriate health education so that they are better prepared in dealing with this pandemic situation. This increase in knowledge will have a positive impact on the health of the mother and fetus, as well as reducing the risk of transmission among pregnant women.
