The study involves 80 respondents who were selected using a simple random sampling technique. Primary data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires to employees, while secondary data were obtained through literature studies. The data analysis methods used include validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumptions tests, multiple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis tests.

Results

The results of this study indicate that workload and motivation have a significant influence on employee performance at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV (Persero) Medan. The coefficient of determination test shows that there is a close relationship between workload and motivation to employee performance with a R value of 0.612. Adjusted R Square value or the coefficient of determination shows that the workload variable (X1) and Motivation (X2) can explain 35.8% of the variable variable employee performance (Y), while the remaining 64.2% are influenced by other variables that are not discussed in this study.

The results of this study indicate that companies need to pay attention to these two factors simultaneously. Companies need to manage employee workloads effectively and efficiently to prevent fatigue and decline in performance. On the other hand, companies need to increase employee motivation in various ways, such as giving awards, training, and promotional opportunities.
