Methodology

This study uses a dynamic analysis with the help of Powersim Software Version 2005. Data was collected through a survey of 74 star and non-star hotels in Medan selected using the stratified sampling method. The survey collected data on various aspects of hotel operations, including water usage, waste management, and energy consumption. The data was then analyzed using the dynamic model simulation to estimate the cost of externalities.

Correction Factor for Conventional GRDP

The study also estimated the correction factor to convert conventional GRDP to green GRDP in the Medan City Hotel sector. However, if the cost of positive externalities (electrical energy savings) is also calculated, the correction factor becomes 2.82%. This suggests that the conventional GRDP needs to be corrected by a significant margin to reflect the true economic growth of the hotel sector.
