This could be caused by an increase in mixed density which helps the process of gravity in the separation of oil from mud.

The use of 27% water shows optimal results where the potential oil produced is still quite high, but with a fixed oil loss within an acceptable limit. This shows that there is an optimal point in the use of water that not only produces adequate oil but also minimizes unwanted loss.
