For farmers, hybrid seeds are the key to increasing productivity. However, the price of a relatively expensive hybrid seed makes many farmers choose to use local varieties from the previous harvest. This study aims to reveal the effect of differences in fruit skin color and fruit parts on red chili seed viability (capsicum annuum L.).

The results showed that Perfect red fruit skin color produces the best seed viability. The center of the fruit also produces the best seed viability. The best combination of these two factors, namely Perfect red fruit skin taken from the middle of the fruit, gives the most optimal seed viability.

The results of this study showed that the color of the skin of the fruit and the fruit part where the seeds are located have a significant effect on seed viability. The perfect red fruit skin color produces the best seed viability, followed by the center of the fruit.
