Introduction

Deli Serdang Regency, located in North Sumatra, is one of the key areas in the livestock industry, with a significant beef cattle population. This study employed a proportional stratified random sampling method, combining secondary and primary data. The results showed that the average income of beef cattle breeders in Deli Serdang Regency reached Rp.114,000,000/month, with a total expenditure of Rp.113,628,458/month. Although the number of revenues is quite large, the average monthly income of farmers is only Rp.74,308.

This study identified several socio-economic factors that influence the income of beef cattle breeders in Deli Serdang Regency. The experience factor (X3), land area (X4), number of dependents (X5), and capital (X6) showed a significant or significant influence.

The longer the experience of a breeder in managing beef cattle, the higher the income earned. This shows that experience provides valuable knowledge and skills in improving efficiency in production and management.

A large land area allows farmers to maintain more cattle, which are directly proportional to the increase in the amount of production and income.

On the other hand, the education factor (X1) and age (X2) do not show a significant effect on income. This indicates that education and age are not always the main determinant in the success of beef cattle farms.

Government support through programs that encourage the development of beef cattle farm industry, such as feed assistance, superior seeds, and technology, are very important to improve the welfare of farmers.
