Research Methodology

This study uses interactive qualitative methods. Data was collected through observations and in-depth interviews of four informants, namely Deputy Director, Head of Pharmacy Installation, Head of Pharmacy Warehouse, and Drug Planning Staff. Data analysis is carried out using the theory of Miles and Huberman, which prioritizes data collection systematically to produce comprehensive information.

Research Result

The results showed that the drug planning team in the hospital had not been officially formed. Although officers in the pharmaceutical section have an appropriate educational background, the method applied in drug planning still uses the consumption approach, which is not yet fully in accordance with the stated steps. The data used for the selection and determination of the number of drugs needed is also incomplete and accurate, which has the potential to interfere with the effectiveness of drug management.

Recommendation

Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that the Director of the Padangsidimpuan City Hospital forming the drug planning team officially and issuing a decree to strengthen the structure of drug management. In addition, it is important to complete drug planning data with methods in accordance with the steps that have been set, in order to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of drug management. With these steps, it is hoped that meeting the needs of drugs can be done more optimally in the future.
