That is, an increase in FDR or NPF, as well as high operating costs compared to operating income, tends to reduce bank profitability. Conversely, the variable Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), inflation, and real interest rates show positive and significant effects on the ROA of the Islamic banks. This means that an increase in the ratio of capital adequacy and stable macroeconomic conditions can support the profitability of Islamic bank profitability.

Deeper Analysis

The negative effects of FDR can be interpreted that too much financing is issued compared to the amount of savings can increase the risk of liquidity, which in turn suppresses profitability. On the other hand, a high NPF shows a risk of non-current financing, which also has a negative impact on bank financial performance.

From the aspect of macroeconomics, controlled inflation and moderate real interest rates contribute to economic stability, which is important for banks to maintain profitability. Low real interest rates tend to encourage more investment and financing, while low inflation helps in reducing uncertainty for customers.
