Introduction

Hypertension is one of the most deadly chronic diseases in the world, affecting millions of people worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that 1.28% of adults aged between 30 and 79 years worldwide suffer from hypertension. In Medan, hypertension is one of the second largest diseases recorded in all puskesmas. In an effort to deal with this problem, BPJS Health has launched a chronic disease management program (Prolanis) aimed at people with hypertension. This study aims to investigate the factors related to the utilization of Prolanis among patients with hypertension at the Example Puskesmas in 2023.

Methodology

This study uses a quantitative approach with the cross-sectional method. The population in this study consisted of all hypertensive patients who followed and did not participate in the Prolanis program at the Example Puskesmas. The number of samples taken is 70 people with purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through a questionnaire, and data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square Fisher's Exact test with an alpha value (α) of 0.05.

Results

The results showed a significant relationship between several factors and the use of Prolanis among people with hypertension. The factors in question include:

Conversely, no relationship between attitudes (p = 0.272) and the use of Prolanis. This indicates that hypertensive sufferers who do not use Prolanis tend to not get support from their families in this program.
