Introduction

In today's highly competitive banking industry, PT. Bank of North Sumatra is required to maintain its existence and develop its operations to stay ahead of the competition. One strategic approach that can be taken is to improve managerial performance by creating more value than competitors. This study aims to analyze the influence of intellectual capital, which consists of customer capital, human capital, and structural capital, on the managerial performance of PT. Bank of North Sumatra, both simultaneously and partially.

The Importance of Intellectual Capital in Banking Industry

Intellectual capital has become a crucial strategic decision for banks in the midst of fierce competition. It refers to the intangible assets that create value for the organization, including customer relationships, human resources, and organizational culture. This study employed a survey approach with quantitative descriptive characteristics to collect data from PT. Bank of North Sumatra employees. Written questionnaires were distributed, and related documentation was collected to gather information on intellectual capital and managerial performance. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS software. The results showed that the majority of respondents agreed that intellectual capital and managerial performance were positively related.

Research Results

The results of this study showed that simultaneously, intellectual capital had a positive and significant influence on the managerial performance of PT. Bank of North Sumatra. Partially, each variable - Customer Capital, Human Capital, and Structural Capital - also showed a positive and significant influence on the managerial performance of this bank. From a financial ratio perspective, this finding shows that the three intellectual capital components are in line with the financial performance of PT. North Sumatra Bank.

The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R-Square) obtained was 82.2%, indicating that the ability of customer capital, human capital, and structural capital can explain 82.2% of the variations in managerial performance at PT. North Sumatra Bank. The remaining 17.8% is influenced by other variables outside of this study.

Good intellectual capital implementation contributes greatly to improving the managerial performance of PT. North Sumatra Bank. Customer capital, which includes relationships with customers and customer satisfaction, becomes an important pillar in attracting and maintaining clients. Human capital, which refers to the quality of human resources in the bank, also plays a crucial role, where skilled and competent employees contribute to operational efficiency and service innovation. Meanwhile, structural capital, which includes systems, processes, and organizational culture, supports the smooth running of managerial activities.

The importance of management of these three components cannot be underestimated. In the digital era and fierce competition, banks that are able to optimize intellectual capital will be superior to adapt to changes and offer better services. Therefore, for PT. Bank of North Sumatra, the development and investment strategy in intellectual capital must be a top priority to maintain competitiveness and improve performance.

Conclusion

Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that intellectual capital plays an important role in improving the managerial performance of PT. North Sumatra Bank. With good management of customer capital, human capital, and structural capital, banks can achieve better and highly competitive performance. Through a deep understanding of these factors, PT. Bank of North Sumatra is expected to continue to innovate and maintain its position in the increasingly competitive banking industry.
