Introduction

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are one of the most widely cultivated crops in Indonesia, and their production is a significant contributor to the country's agricultural economy. This study employed a survey method, which involved collecting data from 11 districts in the Lake Toba catchment area. Soil sampling was conducted using a random sampling method in three strata, which were grouped based on the level of shallot productivity: low, medium, and high. The regression test was performed using SPSS software to determine the relationship between soil chemical properties and shallot productivity.

Results

The analysis of 30 soil samples revealed that the chemical properties of the soil, both KTK and KB, do not show a significant relationship with shallot productivity. This finding provides important insights for farmers and researchers regarding the factors that affect plant growth, especially shallots, which are one of the important agricultural commodities in Indonesia.
