Introduction

Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is a significant concern worldwide. The prevalence of ECC in various countries shows a fairly high number, with cases of caries in children aged two years being a serious concern. Therefore, it is essential to identify the characteristics that can link the child's risk of the occurrence of ECC. One of the simple but effective prevention strategies is to use toothpaste containing lysozyme, which is antibacterial and does not contain fluorine. This study aims to analyze the role of Siga protein, Saliva Lisozyme, S.Mutans colonies, and children's lifestyles as predictors of ECC events, as well as to evaluate the effect of the use of Lisozyme toothpaste 0.1% for five weeks in children under two years.

The study also found that the addition of 0.1% lysozyme in toothpaste was able to reduce the number of S.Mutans colonies by 3.25 times, as well as increasing the role of Siga and Lisozim activity as antibacterial, which had an impact on the reduction in surface caries rates by 50%.

The ECC prediction model can be used as a tool to assess caries risk and predict ECC events.
