Introduction

Research Methodology

The data used in this study is secondary data taken from financial statements published on the official website of each company. The research sample involved 29 banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Data analysis is carried out using EViews software, which facilitates data processing panels to get valid results. The use of secondary data and panel data analysis allows for a comprehensive understanding of the factors that influence capital buffer in Indonesian banking companies.

The results of the analysis showed that simultaneously, efficiency, risk, loan to deposit ratio, loan over total assets, and company size significantly influenced the capital buffer. However, when analyzed partially, there are some interesting findings:

This might indicate that increasing efficiency in asset management is not always directly proportional to increasing capital buffer. Banking may prefer to use their assets to generate loans rather than increase capital. Loan to Deposit Ratio and Company Size

Meanwhile, a large company size may face challenges to maintain a strong capital buffer, maybe because a larger operational scale requires more capital. This finding suggests that banks with high loan-to-deposit ratios and large company sizes may need to re-evaluate their risk management practices and funding policies to maintain a healthy capital buffer.

Interestingly, the risk shows a positive but not significant effect on capital buffer. This can be caused by the fact that banking companies operating in high-risk environments may tend to have more reserve capital in anticipation of losses, although the effect is not strong enough to be considered significant.
