Introduction

The quality of water sources in the community is often decreased due to pollution caused by various activities, including household and industrial waste. In Teungoh Village, Langsa Kota District, this problem is a serious concern due to lack of access to clean water that is not contaminated. This triggers health effects, especially on the skin, such as dermatitis. This study aims to analyze the influence of demographic characteristics, river water use, and water chemical parameters on dermatitis in river water users in the region.

Background

Water pollution is a significant problem in many parts of the world, including Indonesia. The lack of access to clean water and the presence of pollutants in water sources can have serious health effects, including dermatitis. Dermatitis is a skin condition that can be caused by exposure to contaminated water, and it is a common problem in communities where access to clean water is limited.

This study uses a survey design with a cross-sectional approach, which was carried out from February to August 2016. The research sample consisted of 45 respondents who were people who live around the watershed and routinely use river water. These efforts include conducting counseling on health, monitoring water quality, and infrastructure development for the supply of clean water. With these steps, it is hoped that public health in Teungoh Village can be maintained and the problem of dermatitis can be minimized.
