Introduction

Ovarian cancer is a type of cancer that originates from the ovaries in women, ranking second after cervical cancer and fifth as a cause of death from cancer among women. Given the importance of knowledge about ovarian cancer, this study aims to determine the level of knowledge of students of the Faculty of Medicine about this disease. Understanding ovarian cancer is crucial for medical students, as it has a significant impact on women's health. In this article, we will discuss the findings of a study that investigated the level of knowledge of students of the Faculty of Medicine regarding ovarian cancer.

Methodology

In this study, a cross-sectional design was used by data collection methods through a questionnaire. The sample was taken using the stratified random sampling technique, with a total of 96 respondents involved. Respondents were given a questionnaire instrument consisting of 8 questions related to knowledge of ovarian cancer. The questionnaire was designed to assess the students' understanding of ovarian cancer, including its causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment.

Results

The results showed that of the total 96 respondents, 33 respondents (34.37%) had good knowledge, 54 respondents (56.25%) had sufficient knowledge, and 9 respondents (9.37%) had less knowledge about ovarian cancer. This finding illustrates that most students of the Faculty of Medicine already have adequate understanding of ovarian cancer, but there is still room to increase their knowledge. The results suggest that students have a good foundation in understanding ovarian cancer, but there is still a need for further education and training.
