Why is Perumnas an Option? Revealing the Dominant Factors of Residential Preferences in Public Housing

Public housing or Perumnas has become a popular choice of residences for many families in Indonesia. However, what makes Perumnas so appealing? This study aims to reveal the dominant factors that affect the preferences of residences in Perumnas, with a focus on the Medan and Deli Serdang regions. Through data analysis from 213 respondents in 40 villages in Medan and 31 villages/hamlets in Deli Serdang, this study attempts to answer the question: What factors make the population feel at home in Perumnas?

Characteristics of Perumnas and Population

This study examined three locations of Perumnas in Medan and Deli Serdang, with a population of 100,290 people and 19,865 heads of family. The average population density in the three locations is 5 people per household. The type of house in the three locations is generally homogeneous, namely the simple house category with a total of 21,809 units. The characteristics of Perumnas and its population are crucial in understanding the dominant factors that influence residential preferences.

Dominant Factors that Influence Residential Preferences

This study uses a contingency table and chi-square statistical test to analyze the influence of dominant factors on residential preferences in Perumnas. The independent research variables include:
